Discovering Bentley Community
Bentley is a small, unofficial community within Gibson Township. It's found where Standish Road and Bentley Road meet. This spot was named after Oscar Bentley, who used to own a sawmill there a long time ago.
History of Gibson Township
Early Days and Post Offices
Gibson Township has a bit of history with its post offices.
- A post office named Bently first opened on February 26, 1887.
- Later, on March 15, 1900, another post office called Glover started operating on Stevenson Road, just east of Standish Road. It stayed open for exactly five years.
- On June 30, 1909, the original Bently post office was officially renamed Bentley.
