Bergambacht is a village in the western part of the Netherlands. It is located in the province of South Holland.

Until 2015, Bergambacht was its own "municipality." This means it was a town that managed its own local government. Now, it is part of a larger municipality called Krimpenerwaard.

The area of the former municipality was about 38.06 km2 (14.70 sq mi). A small part of this, 2.96 km2 (1.14 sq mi), was water. Around 10,016 people lived there as of 2014.

Before 2015, the municipality of Bergambacht also included two other communities. These were Ammerstol and Berkenwoude. They joined with Bergambacht in 1985.

What is a Municipality?

A municipality is like a local government area. It's a town or a group of towns that work together. They manage things like roads, schools, and local services. When Bergambacht became part of Krimpenerwaard, it meant that a bigger government now handles these things for the whole area.
