Joe Bertman expanded his sales area from Cleveland all the way to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After World War II, he made deals to be the only distributor for many food products. He had a fleet of trucks and a large team of salespeople.
Company Moves and Growth
By the mid-1930s, the company moved to 653 E. 103rd Street and changed its name to Bertman Pickle Co.. Not long after that, the company moved again to 2180 E. 76th Street. Eventually, the company changed its name to Bertman Foods Company, which is its name today. The company is now located at 7777 Grand Avenue in Cleveland.
The company sold many different food items. These included pickles, salad dressings, spices, coffees, teas, and canned and dried foods. They sold these products to schools, hospitals, and other large food operations.
Mustard for Sports Fans
