The Bessborough Armoury is a special building in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is used by the Canadian Armed Forces as a place for military reserve units to train and meet. You can find it at 2025 West 11th Avenue.

History of the Armoury

Building the Bessborough Armoury started in September 1932. Workers finished the main construction by the spring of 1933. The armoury officially opened its doors on March 27, 1934. The Earl of Bessborough, who was the Governor General of Canada at the time, helped open the building.

Design and Style

The person who designed the Bessborough Armoury was Richard T. Perry. He was also a military officer, leading the 15th Brigade. The outside of the building has a cool and modern look called Art Deco style. When it first opened, the armoury was home to the 15th Brigade and the British Columbia Hussars.

The Bessborough Armoury is considered an important historical building. It is listed as a "B" Category heritage building in Vancouver. The Federal Heritage Buildings Review Office also calls it a "Registered" building. This means it is recognized for its historical value.
