Best of Friends was a fun British game show made just for kids! It aired from 2004 to 2008. You could watch it on CBBC and BBC One. The show tested how strong friendships were.

How the Show Works

Tasks and Treats

Imagine you and your four best friends are on a TV show! In Best of Friends, five friends had to complete three tricky tasks. If they succeeded, they won an awesome final treat.

The tasks were often a bit messy or funny. For example, friends might have to:

  • Clean out pig pens
  • Pick up ice using only their bare feet
  • Try not to laugh while their feet were tickled

While some friends did the tough task, the others got to enjoy a "treat." These treats were much more fun! They could include things like:

  • Visiting animals at the RSPCA
  • Getting a manicure
  • Going shopping
  • Watching a football game
  • Visiting a theme park

The friends had to decide who would do the task and who would get the treat. Sometimes, they used a special method called the "Unlucky Dip."

The Unlucky Dip

The "Unlucky Dip" was a bag with special sweets. Some sweets were blue, and some were not. The number of blue sweets depended on how many people were needed for the next task.

Here's how it worked:

  • Friends would pick a sweet from the bag without looking.
  • They would then suck on the sweet.
  • If your tongue turned blue, you had to do the task!
  • The friends whose tongues didn't turn blue got to enjoy the treat.

For the first task, three friends had to do it. If they passed, the number of people needed for the next task would go down. The final task was the hardest. For this, the friends had three choices:

  • Use the "Unlucky Dip" again.
  • Have someone volunteer to do the task.
  • Have the whole team do the task together.

Even the presenters, like Michael Absalom, Rani Khanijau, and Ortis Deley, sometimes had to do the "Unlucky Dip" themselves! If their tongue turned blue, they had to join in the task too.
