Bettina Gilois (born July 9, 1961 – died July 5, 2020) was a talented writer from Germany and America. She wrote many movies and TV shows. Some of her most famous works include the Disney films Glory Road and McFarland, USA. She also wrote the HBO movie Bessie. Bettina Gilois won awards and nominations for her amazing writing, like an Emmy nomination for Bessie.

About Bettina Gilois
Bettina went to Barnard College at Columbia University. She studied art history and graduated in 1985. Her first job was helping director Slava Tsukerman with a science fiction movie called Liquid Sky. Later, she worked with the famous artist Andy Warhol on his TV show. This is how she started her career in writing for movies and TV.
Writing for the Big Screen
Bettina Gilois helped write the Disney film Glory Road in 2006. This movie tells a true story about a basketball team from Texas Western. Their coach, Don Haskins, made history by starting five African-American players in the 1966 NCAA Championship.
She also co-wrote the TV movie Bessie in 2015. This film is about the life of the famous blues singer Bessie Smith. The movie starred Queen Latifah. Bettina and her co-writers were nominated for an Emmy Award for their great work on Bessie.
