Growing Up and Dreams
Betty Zhou was born in the Jiangsu Province of China. When she was younger, Betty dreamed of becoming a reporter. She later decided to become an actress and studied performing arts at Shanghai Normal University's Xie Jin Film & Television Art College.
Starting Her Career
Betty Zhou studied acting in Mainland China, but she began her acting journey in Singapore. There, she learned to speak English very well while working on TV shows like Adventure Girls and Kung Fu Killer. Betty started in entertainment even before she finished college in 2007. A company from overseas noticed her talent and asked her to star in Adventure Girls. This travel show featured Betty and another host exploring countries like Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines. They took part in fun outdoor activities such as bungee jumping, diving, and rock climbing.
Betty later met people in the entertainment industry in Singapore and was offered acting roles there. She decided to move to Singapore for a few years to improve her skills. This move helped her a lot, and she appeared in many magazines and TV shows. During her time in Singapore, Betty was the only actress from China to play a main role in an English-language TV show.
From Singapore to Sports Host
A few years later, Betty met famous Taiwanese R&B singer David Tao, who offered her a job back in China. After this, Betty got a chance to host NBA basketball coverage in China, a country that loves basketball! Even though she didn't know much about the sport, she bravely took on the challenge. She worked hard to learn about basketball to become a great host. She also taught herself Cantonese for her appearances in Hong Kong.
In 2013, she started hosting basketball shows in China on Chinese Central Television. Even though she wasn't a basketball fan before, people praised her for how well she understood the sport's terms. She was the first Chinese host who could speak two languages to attend and cover the NBA Finals in 2013.
Talking to Hollywood
In May 2015, Betty started hosting Talking to Hollywood with Betty Zhou. This show is on Chinese Central Television and can also be watched on Baidu's iQIYI platform. Big movie studios like Paramount Pictures, Walt Disney Studios, Universal Studios, and Sony Pictures Entertainment helped create it.
