A Look Back: History of Bhiria

The old name for Bhiria City was "Bahrawer." This ancient town was situated along the main National Highway, which connects major cities like Karachi and Peshawar. Long ago, the original town of Bhiria/Bahrawer was located north of where Bhiria City stands today. You can still see the old ruins of a fort there, which was also called Bahrawer. After the old town was destroyed, its people first moved to a village called Kot Bahadur. This village was a few kilometers away and on higher ground, which helped keep them safe from floods. Later, they returned and rebuilt the town at its current location.
