Bickley Vale is a quiet area, or suburb, located in the Macarthur Region of Sydney. It's part of the state of New South Wales, Australia, and is managed by Camden Council.
History of Bickley Vale
The land where Bickley Vale is today was originally home to Indigenous Australian groups. The Gandangara people from the Southern Highlands and the Darug people, especially the Muringong group, lived in this area long ago.
In 1805, a man named John Macarthur was given a very large piece of land. He was important for starting the wool industry in Australia. This land, about 20 square kilometers, was called Cowpastures, which is now the town of Camden.
The name "Bickley Vale" comes from a property that was located within this area. Even today, Bickley Vale is mostly a rural place. This means it has a lot of open land, farms, and natural areas, rather than many big buildings or busy city streets.
