Bill Handel, born on August 25, 1951, is a well-known American radio host and a lawyer. He was born in Brazil. He hosts two popular radio shows from Los Angeles, California. One is a morning show where he talks about current events. This show is very popular, with over a million listeners. He also hosts a weekend show called Handel on the Law, which gives legal advice. This show started in 1985 and is heard on more than 150 radio stations across the U.S. Bill Handel is also the founder of the Center for Surrogate Parenting.
Bill Handel's Early Life
Bill Handel was born in Brazil. His family moved to the United States when he was five years old. He grew up in the San Fernando Valley in California.
He went to California State University, Northridge and earned a degree in political science in 1976. Later, he studied law at Whittier College School of Law at night. He became a lawyer in 1979.
In the 1980s, Bill Handel started helping people with legal cases about surrogate parenting. He also founded the Center for Surrogate Parenting & Egg Donation.
In 1994, he hosted a TV show called Judge For Yourself. The show let viewers call in to share their opinions. However, it was canceled because of low ratings and Bill's busy schedule.
Bill Handel's Radio Career
Bill Handel joined KFI radio in Los Angeles in 1989. He started with his weekend legal show, "Handel On The Law." On July 16, 1993, he began hosting the morning talk show, The Bill Handel Show.
His morning show, The Bill Handel Show, now airs from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. It starts with "Handel on the News," where he talks about the day's top stories. He often invites guests to discuss important topics.
His weekend show, Handel on the Law, offers quick "marginal legal advice." He helps callers understand common legal problems. These include issues between landlords and tenants, child custody, and divorce. He explains these topics in a way that is easy to understand.
On September 11, 2001, Bill Handel was on air when the terrorist attacks happened. Many radio stations in Los Angeles switched to his live broadcast. He continued to host for several hours, providing important news and updates to listeners across the country.
