Billy Dilley's Super-Duper Subterranean Summer is an American animated TV show. It was created by and stars Aaron Springer. The series aired on Disney XD for one season, from June 3 to June 15, 2017.

Story of the Show

The show follows Billy Dilley, a 7th grader who loves science. His lab partners are Zeke and Marsha, and he has a pet rat named Anaximander. During their summer vacation, they get stuck in a strange world called Subterranea-Tania. This happens after a test ride in Billy's science fair project, "The Cheeserator." It's a giant drilling machine meant for cutting holes in huge Swiss cheese. But something goes very wrong, and they end up deep inside the Earth's core.

Main Characters

• Billy Dilley (voiced by Aaron Springer): Billy is a very unique boy who loves science. He is often silly and optimistic. He likes to explore the strange creatures in Subterranea-Tania.
• Zeke McBongo (voiced by Tom Kenny): Zeke is a long-haired, cool-looking teenager. He was assigned to work with Billy. He tries to act tough but can get emotional easily. Zeke often makes sarcastic jokes and is usually the voice of reason. He's also a great chef, especially with calzones and pancakes.
• Marsha Dwanelle (voiced by Catherine Wayne): Marsha wants to be popular and is a new journalist. She was also assigned to work with Billy. She is very energetic and easily impressed, though sometimes a bit spacey.
• Anaximander: This is Billy's quiet pet rat. He mostly just relaxes during the episodes.
• Judy (voiced by Sarah-Nicole Robles): Judy is a friendly swamp creature that Billy becomes friends with. She later becomes his crush.
• Count Raymond Wretcher (voiced by James Arnold Taylor): He says he's the ruler of Subterranea-Tania. He wants to cover the surface world with sludge. He pretends to be nice to Billy to try and steal the Cheeserator.
• Mrs. Wretcher (voiced by Kerri Kenney-Silver): She is Count Wretcher's bossy mother. She often complains about him spreading sludge. You never see her, only a portrait with a speaker.
• Big Doug (voiced by Brian Doyle-Murray): A one-eyed mammoth farmer who owns a wig shop.
• Hag Witch (voiced by Susanne Blakeslee): An old sorceress who likes Count Wretcher. Billy works for her as an apprentice.
• The Troggies: These are ape-like creatures from Subterranea-Tania.
  • Yucky (voiced by Richard Steven Horvitz): A young Troggie who is friends with Billy. He mostly says his own name. Yucky is naive and playful but also very smart.

How the Show Was Made

The idea for Billy Dilley's Super-Duper Subterranean Summer was first talked about in 2014. In March 2016, Disney XD officially decided to make it into a full TV series.

Merriwether Williams was one of the writers for the show. Character designer Robertryan Cory started working on the series in December 2014.

The series has 13 episodes. Most episodes have two shorter stories, each about 11 minutes long. The last episode is a full-length story.

Where the Show Aired

Billy Dilley's Super-Duper Subterranean Summer first aired in Canada on Disney XD on June 5, 2017. It also premiered in Germany on July 7, and in Australia and New Zealand in October 2017. In the United Kingdom and Ireland, the show started on September 18, 2017.
