Birdseye is a small town located in Dubois County, Indiana, in the United States. It is part of Jefferson Township. In 2020, the town had a population of 417 people. Birdseye is also part of the wider Jasper area, known as the Jasper Micropolitan Statistical Area.

History of Birdseye
Birdseye was officially planned and laid out in 1880. A popular story tells how the town got its name. It's said that a Reverend "Bird" Johnson was helping to choose a spot for the first post office. He supposedly said, "this spot suits Bird's eye," and the town was named after that moment. The Birdseye post office has been serving the community since 1856.

Education in Birdseye

Before 1971, Birdseye had its own high school. Their school mascot was the Yellowjackets, and their school colors were black and gold. In 1971, the Birdseye high school joined with other schools to form Forest Park High School.
The town also has a public library. It is a branch of the Jasper-Dubois County Public Library, offering books and resources to the community.
