Birrisito is a special area called a district. It is part of the Paraíso canton, which is in the Cartago province of Costa Rica.

History
Birrisito became a district quite recently. A person called a deputy, Paola Valladares, suggested creating it on July 13, 2020. A deputy is like a representative who helps make laws for the country.
Her idea was approved by the Legislative Assembly on July 12, 2021. The Legislative Assembly is where laws are discussed and passed. The law officially creating Birrisito was signed on July 28, 2021. It was then announced to everyone on August 18, 2021.
Because of the general elections in 2022, Birrisito officially started working as a district after the elections were over. Before it became its own district, this area was part of Paraíso.
Geography
Birrisito covers an area of about 7.5 square kilometers. That's about 2.9 square miles. It is located 1,325 meters (about 4,347 feet) above sea level.
You can find Birrisito about 8 kilometers (5 miles) southeast of Cartago.
Demographics
When the 2011 census happened, Birrisito was not yet a separate district. So, the people living in this area were counted as part of the Paraíso district.

Farming
