Birrisito is a special area called a district. It is part of the Paraíso canton, which is in the Cartago province of Costa Rica.

History

Birrisito became a district quite recently. A person called a deputy, Paola Valladares, suggested creating it on July 13, 2020. A deputy is like a representative who helps make laws for the country.

Her idea was approved by the Legislative Assembly on July 12, 2021. The Legislative Assembly is where laws are discussed and passed. The law officially creating Birrisito was signed on July 28, 2021. It was then announced to everyone on August 18, 2021.

Because of the general elections in 2022, Birrisito officially started working as a district after the elections were over. Before it became its own district, this area was part of Paraíso.
