What is the History of Black Hawk?
Black Hawk started as a community in 1887. It got its name from a nearby creek. This creek was named after Black Hawk, a famous leader of the Sauk people.
In May 2020, a large hole appeared in the ground (called a sinkhole). This happened because of an old gypsum mine underground. It caused some families to move from their homes.
