Black Sandy State Park is a cool place to visit in Montana, United States. It's a public park located right on the western side of Hauser Lake. This lake is a large reservoir formed by the Missouri River. You can find the park about 13 miles northeast of Helena, Montana. It's also part of the famous Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail.

History of Black Sandy State Park

Before 1980, a company called Montana Power Company owned this land. They ran it as a recreation area for people to enjoy. In 1980, they gave control of the park to the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP). This department helps manage Montana's natural areas. Two years later, in 1982, Black Sandy was officially named a state recreation area. Later, the land itself was also given to the FWP.
