Blackfire (whose real name is Princess Komand'r) is a powerful supervillain from DC Comics. She is the older sister and main enemy of Teen Titans member Koriand'r/Starfire. She also has a younger brother named Crown Prince Ryand'r/Darkfire.

Blackfire first appeared in a live-action TV show called Titans. She was played by actress Damaris Lewis.

About Blackfire

First Appearance

Blackfire first showed up in the comic book The New Teen Titans #22. She was created by two famous comic book artists, Marv Wolfman and George Pérez.

Amazing Powers and Skills

Princess Komand'r, also known as Blackfire, is a Tamaranean, just like her sister Starfire. Tamaraneans can absorb and control ultraviolet radiation. Blackfire turns this energy into strong blasts she calls "blackbolts."

This special energy also gives her incredible super strength, speed, and toughness. She is often as strong as, or even stronger than, Starfire. Blackfire has beaten Starfire in fights many times.

When she was young, Blackfire had a sickness that stopped her from being able to fly. But she found other ways to get around this problem.

Fighting Skills

Blackfire is a very skilled fighter. She is even better than her sister, Starfire, who is also a trained warrior. Blackfire has won battles against strong heroes like Starfire and the Thanagarians. She can fight well with her bare hands or with weapons.

Energy Blasts

Blackfire also has the ability to shoot powerful energy blasts called "starbolts," just like her sister. However, Blackfire's blasts are usually much stronger than Starfire's. This allows her to overpower her sister's energy.

For a while, Blackfire lost all her powers. But when they came back, she gained new abilities. She could now fly faster than light! She can also survive in space without needing to eat, drink, or breathe. This lets her travel across huge distances between stars.

Special Energy Absorption

Blackfire can absorb energy from stars and ultraviolet light. She has a unique power that Starfire does not: she can absorb energy from other people to copy their abilities. For example, she once took energy directly from Starfire to copy her all-around energy burst. Because Blackfire can absorb stellar energy better, she can recover faster than her sister after using her powers this way.

Like all Tamaraneans, Blackfire can learn new languages by touching someone. She is very good at speaking English.

In Animated Shows

In the Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go! animated shows, Blackfire can shoot purple ultraviolet energy from her eyes. In one episode, she used a magical jewel that made her powers much stronger. Her purple "blackbolts" turned bright red, and she became even tougher. She could even handle Starfire's green starbolts without getting hurt.

Master Manipulator

Blackfire is also very good at tricking people. She can use kind words and a friendly attitude to get what she wants, even if her goals are bad.

Live-Action Series

In the live-action Titans series, Blackfire can take control of people's minds and bodies. She does this by injecting them with a small microchip.

Blackfire in Movies

Justice League vs. Teen Titans

In this movie, Starfire mentions Blackfire when she talks about Damian Wayne's bad behavior. Starfire says that Damian reminds her of her sister.

Teen Titans: The Judas Contract

Blackfire is mentioned again in Teen Titans: The Judas Contract. In a flashback, Starfire explains that Blackfire took over their home planet, Tamaran. This forced Starfire to escape and come to Earth. Later, Beast Boy tells Terra that Starfire is a refugee being chased by her dangerous sister.

DC Super Hero Girls: Intergalactic Games

Blackfire appears in DC Super Hero Girls: Intergalactic Games. She comes to Earth to compete against Super Hero High School. She doesn't like Starfire's positive attitude or that her sister helps humans. Blackfire thinks it's silly for regular people to call themselves "superheroes."

However, she later helps Starfire fight robots made by Lena Luthor. Blackfire combines her strong purple blackbolt energy with Starfire's bright green starbolts. Together, they easily destroy the robots. Starfire says they are strongest when they work together.

Blackfire in Video Games

Injustice 2

Blackfire is mentioned by Starfire in the video game Injustice 2. Starfire says that Princess Komand'r betrayed her and their home planet.

Stellar Showdown

Blackfire appears in the online game Teen Titans Go!. She was angry that she wasn't invited to her younger sister's birthday party. So, she went to Titans Tower and challenged the Teen Titans to a fight.

Other Appearances

Batman: The Brave the Bold

Blackfire makes a small appearance in issue #9 of the comic book series based on Batman: The Brave and the Bold. She is shown as one of the bad guys that Hawkgirl defeated.

Teen Titans Go!

In issue #49 of the Teen Titans Go! comic, there is an alternate universe where Starfire's evil version is Blackfire of the Teen Tyrants. She also appears in other issues like "It's How You Play the Game!" and "Wildfire."
