The Teen Titans are a famous superhero team from DC Comics. They appear in many comic books. As their name suggests, the team members are all teenagers. Many of them started as sidekicks to bigger heroes in the Justice League.
When the original Teen Titans grew up, they became known as the Titans. New, younger heroes then took on the name Teen Titans. The team first appeared in 1964 in The Brave and the Bold #54. The first members were Kid Flash (Wally West), Robin (Dick Grayson), and Aqualad (Garth). They officially became the Teen Titans in issue #60 when Wonder Girl (Donna Troy) joined them.

The Teen Titans: A History of Heroes
Over the years, DC Comics has restarted the Teen Titans comic series many times. Lots of different heroes have been part of the team.
Early Team Members
After the first four heroes, more joined the team. These included Speedy (Roy Harper), Aquagirl (Tula), and Bumblebee (Karen Beecher). Other heroes like Hawk (Hank Hall) and Dove (Don Hall) also joined. There were even heroes without costumes, like the boxer Mal Duncan and the psychic Lilith.
The New Teen Titans Era
The series became very popular in the 1980s. This was thanks to writer Marv Wolfman and artist George Pérez. Their series was called The New Teen Titans. In this version, the original heroes were young adults. New characters like Cyborg (Victor Stone), Starfire (Koriand'r), and Raven (Rachel Roth) were introduced. Beast Boy (Garfield Logan), a former member of the Doom Patrol, also joined as Changeling. These new members quickly became fan favorites.
One of the most famous stories was "The Judas Contract". In this story, a teammate named Terra (Tara Markov) caused trouble for the Teen Titans.
Later Generations of Titans
In the 1990s, a new Teen Titans team was formed with all new members. Later, the older members returned in a series called Titans.
In the 2000s, a very different Teen Titans team appeared. It included newer sidekicks like Robin III (Tim Drake), Wonder Girl II (Cassie Sandsmark), and Impulse / Kid Flash II (Bart Allen). Superboy (Kon-El) also joined. Some of these heroes had been in a similar team called Young Justice. Later, Miss Martian (M'gann M'orzz), Ravager (Rose Wilson), Supergirl (Kara Zor-El), Kid Devil, and Blue Beetle III (Jaime Reyes) became important members.
At the same time, DC also published Titans. This series showed some of the original and 1980s members as adults. They were led by Dick Grayson, who was now Nightwing.
In 2011, DC Comics restarted many of its comic series with "The New 52". This brought new characters to the Teen Titans, like Solstice (Kiran Singh), Bunker (Miguel Jose Barragan), and Skitter (Celine Patterson). However, this version was not as popular.
In 2016, DC Comics brought back the original founding members and their history. They reunited as the Titans. A new generation of Teen Titans was also introduced. This team was led by Robin V (Damian Wayne). It included Aqualad II (Jackson Hyde) and Kid Flash III (Wallace West). Starfire, Raven, and Beast Boy also remained important members.
The Titans in Other Media
The Teen Titans have become very popular outside of comic books. They gained a lot of attention from the Cartoon Network animated series in the early 2000s. This show featured Robin, Starfire, Cyborg, Raven, and Beast Boy as the main team. A spin-off show called Teen Titans Go! also became very popular.
A live-action TV series started in 2018 on DC Universe. The characters and stories were also part of the 2010s animated series Young Justice.
Within DC Comics, the Teen Titans have been a very important group. They often play big roles in major company-wide crossover stories. Many villains who fought the Titans have also become more important in the DC Universe. These include the assassin Deathstroke, the demon Trigon, and the evil group H.I.V.E..
Titans Tower: The Team's Home Base
Titans Tower is the main headquarters for the Teen Titans. The first tower was in New York City. Later, it was shown in California, often near San Francisco.
The look and location of the tower have changed over time. However, it always has a few key features. It is always shaped like the letter "T". In some stories, the tower is colored like sky blue or silver.
