Raven is a powerful superheroine from DC Comics comic books. She first appeared in a comic called DC Comics Presents #26 in October 1980. She was created by writer Marv Wolfman and artist George Pérez.

Raven's real name is Rachel Roth. She is special because her father, Trigon, is a demon, and her mother, Arella, is human. This mix gives her amazing powers. She can sense and understand what others are feeling, which is called being an empath. She can also control her "soul-self." This soul-self can fight, or act like her eyes and ears from far away. Lately, she's also shown to be very good at different kinds of magic. Raven is a very important member of the superhero team, the Teen Titans.

You might have seen Raven in many cartoons and movies. She was a main character in the Cartoon Network show Teen Titans and its funny spin-off Teen Titans Go!. In these shows, her voice was done by Tara Strong. She also appeared in the DC Animated Movie Universe from 2014 to 2020, voiced by Taissa Farmiga. In live-action, Rachel Roth is played by Teagan Croft in the Titans TV series.

Raven's Amazing Powers

Raven gets her incredible powers from her demon father, Trigon. This makes her super strong with both magic and mind powers. In earlier stories, her powers were so strong they could destroy a whole universe if she didn't control them! She is often seen as the most powerful of Trigon's children.

Empathic Abilities

Raven is mainly an empath. This means she can feel and understand the emotions of others. She can even sense if someone is hurt or sick. She used to be able to take away pain and sickness, but it would hurt her too.

She can also read people's feelings and even control them. She can make people feel calm, get rid of bad feelings, or even make someone fall in love with her. By taking on someone's pain, she can help them heal very quickly.

Magical Skills

Besides her mind powers, Raven is also a very skilled magic user. Many of her magical abilities are linked to her soul-self. She can do many things with magic, like:

  • Teleporting (moving instantly from one place to another)
  • Time travel
  • Controlling shadows and darkness
  • Hypnosis (controlling someone's mind)
  • Telekinesis (moving things with her mind)
  • Using "chaos magic," which lets her do magic without needing spells or chants.

Raven can also make people feel one of the seven deadly sins, like pride. But doing this makes her feel sick for days afterward. She sometimes has visions of the future, but she can't control when they happen. Even though she rarely uses them, Raven is also good at hand-to-hand fighting.

Soul-Self Power

Raven can create a solid black energy form that looks like a bird. This is called her soul-self. Her soul-self can fly far away, pass through solid objects, and talk to her telepathically. It can also act like a shield, soaking up energy or objects.

She can turn her physical body into her soul-self. This lets her carry or teleport herself and others a short distance. Her soul-self can even calm someone down by wrapping around them. At first, her soul-self could only stay outside her body for five minutes, but she later overcame this limit.

What Makes Raven Weak?

Raven has a few weaknesses. Since she's an empath, she can't completely block out other people's feelings. Being around too many people with strong emotions can be hard for her. Also, very strong magical forces can sometimes overwhelm her.
