Blacklick Estates is a community located in Franklin County, Ohio, in the United States. It's known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area identified by the U.S. Census Bureau for statistical purposes, but it's not an officially incorporated city or town with its own local government. Part of Blacklick Estates is in Madison Township, and another part is in Truro Township. In 2020, about 8,990 people lived here.
A Look Back in Time
Blacklick Estates has an interesting past. One important event happened on September 14, 1979. On this day, about 300 homes in the area were flooded. This happened because Blacklick Creek overflowed its banks. Heavy rains from Hurricane Frederic caused the creek to rise.
Where is Blacklick Estates?
Blacklick Estates is found in the southeastern part of Franklin County. It shares its borders with the city of Columbus to the north, east, and south. To the west, it borders land in Madison Township that is not officially part of a city. Ohio State Route 317 (also called S. Hamilton Road) marks the western edge of the community. Downtown Columbus is about 10 miles (16 km) to the northwest.
According to the United States Census Bureau, Blacklick Estates covers a total area of about 1.91 square miles (4.96 square kilometers). A small part of this area, about 0.02 square miles (0.06 square kilometers), is water.
