This page is about the body of water. For the neighbourhood in Edmonton, see Blackmud Creek, Edmonton.
Blackmud Creek is a small waterway, also known as a creek, located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It flows into another creek called Whitemud Creek.
This creek begins at Saunders Lake, which is east of a town called Nisku. From there, Blackmud Creek travels northwest. It eventually enters the city of Edmonton. The creek then joins Whitemud Creek in a neighborhood known as Twin Brooks.
The name "Blackmud Creek" is very fitting! It comes from the original Cree language name, which is kas-ki-te-oo asiski. This Cree name accurately describes the creek, meaning "black mud."
