Blackstorm is a cool rock and blues band from Yuendumu, a community in Australia's Northern Territory. The band members are from the Warlpiri people, and they sing their songs in both the Warlpiri language and English. In 2001, Blackstorm was nominated for a Deadly Award for Best Band. Deadly Awards celebrated the amazing achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in many areas, including music.
You might have heard music from Blackstorm, or from some of its members, in the TV show Bush Mechanics. This show is about Warlpiri mechanics who fix cars in the Australian outback.
Did you know that two of the band members, Donovan Rice and Gordon Robertson, are also talented artists?
