Blair Imani (born Blair Elizabeth Brown, October 31, 1993) is an American author, historian, and educator. She is known for creating and hosting the web series Smarter in Seconds. She became well-known for her involvement with the Black Lives Matter movement. She also took part in protests against Executive Order 13769.

Education and Career Highlights
Learning at Louisiana State University
Blair Imani graduated from Louisiana State University (LSU) in 2015. She studied there and gained knowledge that helped her later work.
Starting Equality for HER
In 2014, while at LSU, Imani started an organization called Equality for HER. This group is a non-profit. It helps women and nonbinary people by providing resources and a place to feel strong and supported.
Working for Social Change
Imani also worked at DoSomething. This is a technology company that helps young people get involved in social change. She was the Civic Action & Campaign Lead there.
Writing Important Books
Blair Imani has written several books. Her first book, Modern HERstory: Stories of Women and Nonbinary People Rewriting History, was published in 2018. This book highlights 70 important people, including people of color and those with disabilities, who are making a difference in the world.
Her second book, Making Our Way Home: The Great Migration and the Black American Dream, came out in 2020. This illustrated history book teaches readers about the Great Migration. It also explores Black history and how different perspectives shape stories about Black people.
Smarter In Seconds Videos
In 2020, Imani started "Smarter In Seconds." This is a series of short, informative videos. She shares these videos on social media platforms like Instagram Reels and TikTok. The videos cover important topics such as understanding discrimination and protecting the environment.
Activism and Public Voice
Protesting in Baton Rouge
On July 10, 2016, Blair Imani participated in a protest in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This protest happened after the shooting of Alton Sterling. During the protest, she was detained by officers. She later shared her experience in an interview.
Speaking Against Violence
Less than a week after her detention, Imani helped organize a vigil. This event was held with the Louisiana State University Student Body Association. It was a response to the murder of three Baton Rouge police officers. Imani stated in an article, "All violence is wrong." She emphasized that she is against all forms of brutality, including violence against police officers.
Sharing Her Identity
Blair Imani has openly shared parts of her personal journey. She converted to Islam in 2015. She chose the surname Imani because it means 'my faith' and is a word in both Swahili and Arabic. She felt it represented her journey to Islam.
In 2017, she publicly shared that she is a Black, Muslim person who is also part of the LGBTQ community. She received support from many people, including other LGBTQ Muslims and young people around the world.
