Blanchard is a small place in Polk County, Texas, USA. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's not officially a city or town with its own local government. Blanchard is located about 82 miles north of Houston. You can find it where two roads meet: Farm Road 3126 and Farm Road 2457.

Discovering Blanchard's Past

Blanchard has an interesting history. In the early 1900s, a railroad stop was built here. William Carlisle, who owned a sawmill in nearby Onalaska, named this stop. He named it "Blanchard" after his brother-in-law, Ben Blanchard, who was from New York.

Railroad Changes Over Time

The railroad line was important for the area. From 1923, the Waco, Beaumont, Trinity & Sabine Railway Co. ran this line. However, in 1949, the rail line was no longer used. It was officially abandoned.

Blanchard and Lake Livingston

A big change came to the area in 1968. This was when Lake Livingston was built. With the creation of the lake, new roads and parks were developed around Blanchard. This helped the community grow and change.
