Lady Blanche Maud de la Poer Beresford Girouard (born October 13, 1898 – died September 29, 1940) was an Irish journalist and writer. She was the oldest child of the 6th Marquess of Waterford, a noble family in Ireland.

Her Early Life

Blanche Maud de la Poer Beresford was born in London on October 13, 1898. Her parents were Henry Beresford, 6th Marquess of Waterford, and Lady Beatrix Frances Petty-FitzMaurice. She grew up in a place called Curraghmore, in Portlaw, County Waterford, Ireland.

Family Life

In 1927, Blanche married Major Richard Desiré Girouard. Their wedding took place at Westminster Cathedral. They had three children together. One of their children, Mark Girouard, later became a well-known historian and writer.

Lady Blanche passed away in 1940 due to a car accident. She is buried in Molesey Cemetery, in Surrey, England. In 1929, she made news when she decided to become a Catholic.

Her Writing Career

Lady Blanche Girouard was a talented writer. She wrote both novels and short stories. She also contributed articles to newspapers, including The Evening News.

Published Works

Before she died, one of her books of short stories and one novel were published. People really admired her writing style. A reviewer from Brisbane described her novel as "a thing of beauty." They praised her use of "pure language," "poetic thought," and "idyllic imagery." Her book of stories also received similar compliments for its beautiful writing.
