A Look Back in Time
Blanchester was started in 1832. Two people named Joseph and John Blancett laid out the village. The village was named after them, combining parts of their last name.
In March 2020, a very old building called the Bindley Block building caught fire. It was a historic landmark in the village.

Blanchester covers a total area of about 4.25 square miles (10.83 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small part being water. It's interesting to know that Blanchester is the only community with this name anywhere in the world!

Over the years, the number of people living in Blanchester has changed. In 1860, there were 553 residents. By 1900, the population had grown to 1,788. The village continued to grow, reaching 4,243 people in 2010 and 4,224 in 2020.
