The Church of the Blessed Sacrament is a Roman Catholic church located in Seattle, Washington. It serves the University District area. This church is special because it is the only one in its region run by the Dominican Order, also known as the Order of Preachers.
The Dominican Order is a group of priests and brothers who dedicate their lives to teaching and preaching. The church, along with its living quarters for priests (called a priory) and its school building, was recognized as an important historical site in 1984. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

History of the Church
The Church of the Blessed Sacrament has a long and interesting history. It was founded on December 6, 1908, by Father Francis Driscoll. The main church building was officially opened on October 4, 1925.
Building and Repairs
The church building is designed in a style called Neo-Gothic. This means it looks like old European churches with tall arches and detailed stonework. In 2001, an earthquake called the 2001 Nisqually earthquake caused some damage to the church. Extensive repairs were completed in 2010 to make sure the building was safe and strong again.
The Priory and School Buildings
The priory, where the Dominican priests live, was finished in 1922. The original school building was completed in 1913. It was a two-story wooden building. However, due to safety concerns, that building was replaced. A new school building was constructed in 1950.
Serving the Community
The Church of the Blessed Sacrament is a busy place. It serves over 1,100 families and more than 1,000 students. The church has a prior, who is like the head of the Dominican community there. The current prior is Father Dominic Briese. The pastor, Father Dominic David Maichrowicz, leads the church services and activities.
Support for University Students
The church also helps Catholic students at the University of Washington. It does this through the Prince of Peace Newman Center. This center is one of the oldest Newman Centers in the United States. It was also the first one to be run by the Dominican Order. Priests like Father Marcin Szymański and Father Chrysostom Mijinke serve as chaplains at the Newman Center.
Student Brothers Program
A unique part of this church is its "student brothers" program. Each year, young Dominican seminarians (students studying to become priests) come to the church. They spend a year working with the pastor and the Newman Center chaplains. They help teach people about the Catholic faith in different ways.
FOCUS Missionaries
Since 2019, missionaries from a group called FOCUS have also been helping at the church and Newman Center. They work to support the students and the parish community.
