Blondie is a famous American rock band. It was started by singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein. The band was one of the first to play new wave and punk music in America. This was in the mid-to-late 1970s.

Their first two albums were popular in the United Kingdom and Australia. But in the United States, Blondie was not very well known. That changed when they released Parallel Lines in 1978. Over the next three years, the band had many hit songs. These included "Heart of Glass", "Call Me", "Rapture" and "The Tide Is High". Blondie became known for mixing many different music styles. They used parts of disco, pop, reggae, and early rap music.

About Blondie's Music

Blondie stopped playing together after their sixth album, The Hunter, in 1982. Debbie Harry then started a solo music career. She also took some time off to care for Chris Stein, who was unwell.

The band got back together in 1997. They became popular again and had a number one song called "Maria" in the United Kingdom in 1999. This was exactly 20 years after their first UK number one song, "Heart of Glass".

Blondie's Legacy

Blondie has toured and performed all over the world. In 2006, they joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Blondie has sold over 40 million albums around the world. The band is still active today.

Their tenth album, Ghosts of Download, came out in 2014. Their eleventh album, Pollinator, was released on May 5, 2017.
