History of Bloomingburg
Bloomingburg was first planned and settled in 1815. People say the village got its name because the women living there kept many beautiful flowers in their yards. A post office has been open in Bloomingburg since 1819. This helped people send and receive mail for a very long time. Bloomingburg was also known as a "stop" on the Underground Railroad. This was a secret network that helped enslaved people find freedom in the years before the American Civil War.
