BluRum13 (born James Sobers) is an American rapper, actor, and music producer. He is known for his work in the underground hip hop scene. An emcee, or rapper, is the person who raps the lyrics to a song. He is also known by the names Blu Rum 13, Blurum 13, and Killa Platypus.
BluRum13 was born in New York City but grew up mostly in Washington, D.C. He has a famous relative: his great-uncle is Sir Garfield Sobers, a celebrated cricket player who was knighted for his skill.

Music Career
BluRum13 is known for working on his own music and with many different bands and producers all over the world. He has worked with artists in North America, Europe, and Australia.
Solo Music
BluRum13's first album was called The Previouslee Unreleased Recordings of BluRum13. This album led to him working with DJ Vadim, a producer from London. DJ Vadim liked the song It's Obvious so much that he put it on his own album in 2002.
After this, BluRum13 toured as the main rapper for Vadim's group, The Russian Percussion. This group also included the famous beatboxer Killa Kela. A beatboxer is someone who makes drum sounds and rhythms using only their mouth.
BluRum13 later released his second album, Vaguely Familiar, on DJ Vadim's record label. Over the years, he has released more solo music, including the album Inverted in 2013 and Rainbows, Butterflies & Gangstas in 2017.
Work with Bands and Groups
BluRum13 has been a member of several groups and music collectives. A collective is a group of artists who work together.
- Bullfrog: From 1994 to 2004, he was in a funk band from Montreal called Bullfrog. The band also featured Kid Koala.
- One Self: In 2005, he formed the hip hop group One Self with DJ Vadim and another rapper, Yarah Bravo. Their album Children of Possibility was very successful. The group was named "best newcomers of 2005" by The Times newspaper in London.
- Bluke: BluRum13 teamed up with producer Luke Vibert to form a duo called Bluke. They released two albums together.
- Indigenous Invaders: In 2012, he started a group that mixed dub, hip-hop, and electronic music. The group performed at the world's first YouTube music festival in Madrid, Spain.
He has also been the lead rapper for many other groups, including US3, Reverse Engineering, and Resin Dogs.
Acting Career
In 2016, BluRum13, using his real name James Sobers, acted in a Western movie called The Price of Death. He played a cowboy outlaw named "Randy." The movie was filmed in Almeria, Spain, a famous location for shooting Westerns.
