Bluerock Creek is a creek, which is a small river, located in southern Alberta, Canada. It flows into the Sheep River. The Sheep River then joins the Highwood River. Bluerock Creek is about 11.4 kilometers (7 miles) long. It starts in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and ends where it meets the Sheep River.

How Bluerock Creek Was Formed

The deep, steep walls of Bluerock Creek's canyon were carved out by huge glaciers. This happened during the last ice age, many thousands of years ago.

People started logging, or cutting down trees, near the Sheep River in the early 1900s. This was around the same time that the nearby town of Turner Valley was settled. Logging continued for several decades, but it was not always very profitable. The last sawmills in the area closed in 1955.

Fun Things to Do at Bluerock Creek

The Bluerock Campground is located close to the creek. It has 66 campsites where people can stay. The campground is also the starting point for the Bluerock Creek Trail. This trail follows along the left side of the creek, offering great views for hikers.
