Bly (which used to be called Bly Junction) is a small place in Riverside County, California. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's not officially a city or town with its own local government. Instead, it's managed by the county.
Bly is located about 6.5 miles (or 10.5 kilometers) west of downtown Riverside. It sits at an elevation of 751 feet (which is about 229 meters) above sea level.
How Bly Got Its Name
Bly was named by people working for the San Pedro, Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad. They decided to name the community after some local people who owned quarries nearby. Quarries are places where stone or sand is dug out of the ground.
