Bob Delyn a'r Ebillion (which means Every Harp and the Pegs) is a folk-rock band from Wales. They sing their songs in both the Welsh and Breton languages.
History of the Band
The band is led by Twm Morys, who is a special poet called a Prifardd (which means Chief Bard). Bob Delyn a'r Ebillion became very important in bringing back Welsh folk music in the early 1990s. Their music mixes many different styles and instruments. They also use traditional Welsh folk sounds.
Their first album came out in 1990. At that time, the Welsh language wasn't used as much in art or everyday life. The band was one of the first to start a new time for Welsh language music. This helped make the language more important across Wales.
One song written by the band is called Cân John Williams. It tells the story of John Williams, a man who lived in the Black Mountains. He was one of only five people left who spoke Welsh in his valley. This song shows what the band is all about.
Another song, Fy Mendith ar y Llwybrau, is about a trip Twm Morys took to Canada. It talks about how much he missed home during his journey.
The band is also praised for using both Welsh and Breton in their songs. For example, in the song Meur a Wech, they show how the two old Celtic languages are both similar and different.
In 2017, they released a new album called Dal i ‘Redig Dipyn Bach. It was their first album in thirteen years.
