Robert Michael Miller (born September 28, 1956 – died September 30, 2020) was an American professional ice hockey player. He played 404 games in the National Hockey League (NHL). He played for the Boston Bruins, Colorado Rockies, and Los Angeles Kings. He even played in the 1978 Stanley Cup Finals with the Bruins. Miller also played hockey in Finland for Kärpät and in Switzerland for HC Sierre.

Early Life and Olympic Dreams

Miller was born in Medford, Massachusetts. He was a hockey star in high school. He played for St. John's Preparatory School and Billerica High. He also became a college hockey star for the University of New Hampshire.

Before turning professional, Miller played for the U.S. national team. He even competed in the 1976 Winter Olympics. This was a big achievement for him.

Hockey Career Highlights

Miller was part of the U.S. team in several big tournaments. He played in the 1981 Canada Cup. He also played in the Ice Hockey World Championships in 1977, 1981, 1982, and 1985.

During his first season with the Boston Bruins (1977–78), something special happened. Miller was one of 11 Bruins players to score 20 goals. This was a record for any NHL team. No other team has matched this amazing feat. In 2018, Miller attended a ceremony. The Bruins celebrated the 40th anniversary of this record.

He played a total of 404 games in the NHL. He scored 75 goals and made 119 assists. This gave him 194 points in his NHL career.

Robert Miller was the older brother of another ice hockey player, Paul Miller. Robert Miller passed away on September 30, 2020. He died in Tampa, Florida.
