Robert E. Wilson (born January 15, 1951) is an American former professional basketball player. He played four seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers.
Early Life and College Basketball
Bobby Wilson was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on January 15, 1951. He grew up loving basketball. For his college education, he attended Pasadena City College and Wichita State University.
In 1974, Bobby was chosen to play professional basketball. The Chicago Bulls picked him in the third round of the 1974 NBA draft. Another league, the ABA, also drafted him that year.
Professional Basketball Career
Bobby Wilson played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for four seasons. He played for the Chicago Bulls, the Boston Celtics, and the Indiana Pacers.
After his time in the NBA, Bobby played in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). He played for the Hawaii / Billings Volcanos from 1979 to 1981. In 1980, he was named the CBA Newcomer of the Year. This award goes to a player who performs very well in their first year in the league. He was also chosen for the All-CBA Second Team that year.
Bobby also tried his hand at coaching. He was the head coach for the Hawaii / Billings Volcanos for two seasons. He coached 37 games and had a record of 16 wins and 21 losses.
Later in his career, Bobby Wilson played basketball internationally. He played for teams in Europe, including Fortitudo Bologna in Italy from 1984 to 1985. He also played for Grenoble in France from 1985 to 1986.
