Bobo Stenson (born Bo Gustav Stenson on August 4, 1944) is a famous Swedish jazz pianist. He has been playing piano for a very long time, starting in the 1960s. Bobo is known for his amazing jazz music. He often plays with his own group, the Bobo Stenson Trio. This group has been making music for over 50 years! The trio includes Anders Jormin on bass and Jon Fält on drums.

Bobo Stenson's Musical Journey
Early Life and Learning Music
When Bobo was eight years old, he started learning piano. For 15 years, he studied with a talented teacher named Werner Wolf Glaser. Mr. Glaser was a professor and pianist who taught Bobo many important skills.
In 1963, Bobo became well-known in his hometown of Västerås. He then moved to Stockholm, where he played music very often. In Stockholm, he got to play with many famous American jazz musicians who were visiting. These included Sonny Rollins, Stan Getz, and Gary Burton. He also worked closely with Don Cherry, a great trumpet player, when Don lived in Scandinavia.
Playing in Different Bands
The 1970s was a very busy time for Bobo Stenson. He played in many different music groups. One of his long-lasting bands was called Rena Rama. In this band, he played with Palle Danielsson. He also had a trio with Arild Andersen and Jon Christensen. Later, he played with Jan Garbarek, another well-known musician.
In 1988, Bobo joined the Charles Lloyd quartet. Charles Lloyd is a famous jazz saxophonist. Since 1996, Bobo has performed at big jazz festivals. He played with Tomasz Stańko's septet and sextet, which are groups with seven or six musicians.
