Bobo Stenson (born Bo Gustav Stenson on August 4, 1944) is a famous Swedish jazz pianist. He is known for his unique style and long career in music. For over 50 years, he has led the Bobo Stenson Trio. This group includes Anders Jormin on bass and Jon Fält on drums.

A Musical Journey

Bobo Stenson started playing the piano at a young age. When he was eight, he began studying with a professor named Werner Wolf Glaser. He continued these lessons for 15 years, learning a lot about music.

In 1963, Bobo moved from his hometown of Västerås to Stockholm. There, he quickly became a popular musician. He often played with famous American jazz artists who visited Sweden. Some of these stars included Sonny Rollins, Stan Getz, and Gary Burton. He also worked closely with the trumpeter Don Cherry.

The 1970s were a very busy time for Bobo. He played in many different music groups. One important band was Rena Rama, which he formed with Palle Danielsson. He also played in a trio with Arild Andersen and Jon Christensen. Later, he performed with the well-known musician Jan Garbarek.

In 1988, Bobo joined the Charles Lloyd quartet. This was another important step in his career. Since 1996, he has also performed at big jazz festivals. He played with Tomasz Stańko's groups, sharing his music with audiences around the world.
