Boggstown is a small community in Shelby County, Indiana, in the United States. It's known as an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of Sugar Creek Township.
A Look Back at Boggstown's History
Boggstown was officially planned and laid out in 1867. It was named after an early settler in the area, Joseph Boggs. That same year, a post office was opened in Boggstown, which has been helping people send and receive mail ever since!
Around 1861, just before the American Civil War began, there was a meeting in Boggstown. Some people at this meeting talked about joining the Confederacy if a war started. However, this idea didn't actually happen. The community of Boggstown and the state of Indiana stayed loyal to the United States throughout the war. Soldiers from Boggstown fought for the Union side.
Boggstown also used to have a school, but it closed down at some point.
