Bolingbroke is a small community in Monroe County, Georgia, United States. It is known as an unincorporated community, meaning it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. It is also a census-designated place (CDP), which is an area the U.S. Census Bureau defines for gathering population data.
Bolingbroke was founded in 1867. It is located just north of Macon, between two major highways, I-475 and I-75. The community is part of the larger Macon metropolitan area. In 2020, about 497 people lived in Bolingbroke.
History of Bolingbroke
This community got its name from Henry St John, 1st Viscount Bolingbroke. He was an English philosopher and politician who lived a long time ago (1678–1751).
The Georgia General Assembly, which is like Georgia's state parliament, officially made Bolingbroke a town in 1912. This meant it had its own local government. However, in 1995, Bolingbroke stopped being an official municipality. This means it no longer has its own town government and is now an unincorporated community.
Where is Bolingbroke?
Bolingbroke is in the southeastern part of Monroe County. It sits right between two big highways, I-75 and I-475.
If you travel southeast on I-75, you'll reach downtown Macon, which is about 14 miles away. If you head northwest on I-75, you can get to Atlanta, which is about 71 miles from Bolingbroke.
The area of the Bolingbroke CDP is about 1.9 square miles. Most of this area is land, with only a very small part (about 0.04 square miles) being water.
Who Lives in Bolingbroke?
The U.S. Census Bureau counted the population of Bolingbroke for the first time in the 2020 census. At that time, 497 people lived there.
The community is mostly made up of people who identify as White. There are also smaller groups of people who identify as Black or African American, Asian, and people of mixed races. Some residents also identify as Hispanic or Latino, who can be of any race.

Bolingbroke has some fun local events. Since 2009, the community has hosted the Bolingbroke Southern Jam. This is a music festival where people can enjoy different kinds of music.
Also, every year, the community celebrates with an annual Christmas parade. It's a festive event for everyone to enjoy during the holiday season.
