Bonnyrigg is a suburb in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It's about 36 kilometres west of the main city centre. Bonnyrigg is part of the Greater Western Sydney area. It belongs to the City of Fairfield local council.

A Look Back at Bonnyrigg's History
Bonnyrigg got its name from a town in Scotland. Back in 1803, Governor King Arthur Philip gave land here. This land was for a special school for boys who didn't have parents. A big house was built on Brown Road. It was called the Male Orphan School. This old house was made even bigger around 1914. Today, it's a very important historical building.

New Homes for Bonnyrigg
The town centre is getting a big makeover right now. It's part of a new housing plan called Newleaf Bonnyrigg. This project will replace over 800 old homes with 2,330 new ones. This means Bonnyrigg's population will grow by more than 3,000 people by 2022. This big project is a partnership between the government and private companies.

The closest train station is Cabramatta. You can catch trains on the Inner West & Leppington Line and the Bankstown Line from there.
