Booker Taylor Brown (born September 25, 1952 – died July 18, 2022) was an American football player. He played as an offensive tackle, a key position on the football field. An offensive tackle helps protect the quarterback and blocks for running backs. Booker Brown played for the San Diego Chargers in the National Football League (NFL). He also played for the Southern California Sun in the World Football League.

Booker Brown's Football Journey
Early Life and College Football
Booker Brown was born in Wesson, Mississippi. He went to Santa Barbara High School in Santa Barbara, California. After high school, he started his college football career at Santa Barbara City College.
Later, he transferred to the University of Southern California (USC). While playing for the USC Trojans, he became a very talented player. In 1973, he was named a consensus All-American. This means he was recognized as one of the best college football players in the country that year.
Playing Professional Football
After his successful college career, Booker Brown was chosen in the 1974 NFL Draft. The Houston Oilers picked him in the sixth round. This was a big step for him to play professional football.
Before joining the NFL, Brown played for the Southern California Sun in the World Football League in 1974. He then joined the San Diego Chargers in the NFL. He played for the Chargers for three seasons, from 1975 to 1977.
Life After Football
In 2019, Booker Brown received a special honor. He was inducted into the Santa Barbara City College Athletics Hall of Fame. He was part of the very first group of athletes to be given this award. This showed how much his contributions to college sports were appreciated.
Booker Brown passed away on July 18, 2022, after being ill for some time.
