Boolboonda is a small rural area in Queensland, Australia. It is a locality within the Bundaberg Region. In 2021, about 55 people lived in Boolboonda.

Boolboonda's History

The name Boolboonda comes from an Aboriginal word. Local people created this word to sound like the blasting noise. This noise happened when workers dug the railway tunnel for the Mount Perry railway line. This railway was built between 1882 and 1884.

Boolboonda School

A school called Boolboonda Provisional School first opened on 25 September 1882. However, it closed around 1884.

The school reopened around 1897. On 1 January 1909, it became Boolboonda State School. The school finally closed its doors on 9 February 1973.
