Discovering the Borough Theatre
The Borough Theatre is located on Cross Street, right in the middle of Abergavenny. It's part of a much older building called the town hall, which was built way back in 1870. That means it's a Victorian building, from a time when Queen Victoria ruled.
Inside the Theatre
The theatre has a cozy space called an auditorium where the audience sits. It's designed so everyone can see the stage really well. The sound, or acoustics, is also excellent, making sure you hear every word and note clearly. The theatre mixes its old, classic look with modern touches. It has been updated a few times, once in the 1990s and again more recently in 2022, to keep it looking great and working well.
Famous Visitors and Shows
Did you know that the famous music group The Beatles played at the Borough Theatre? They performed there on June 22, 1963!
Today, the theatre is home to a local group called the Abergavenny Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society (AAODS). This group puts on many plays and musicals. The theatre also welcomes many different performers and artists who travel to Abergavenny to share their talents. It's a busy place with lots of exciting shows for everyone to enjoy.
