Bovina is a small, unincorporated community in Lincoln County, Colorado, United States. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.
Even though Bovina is small, it has a ZIP Code (80818). This ZIP code is handled by the Post Office in a nearby town called Genoa.
A Look Back: Bovina's History
Bovina got its own post office way back in 1899. This post office helped people send and receive mail for many years. It stayed open until 1955.
The name "Bovina" comes from the Spanish word for "cattle." This makes a lot of sense because the area around Bovina had many cattle ranches. So, the community was named after the important cattle industry nearby.
