Bradford Claude Dourif (born March 18, 1950) is an American actor famous for his unique and memorable roles. He is best known as the voice of the scary doll Chucky in the Child's Play movies and TV show.
Many people also know him as the sneaky Gríma Wormtongue in The Lord of the Rings film series. One of his first major roles was as Billy Bibbit in the movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. His performance was so good that he was nominated for an Academy Award.
Dourif has appeared in many other movies, including science fiction films like Dune and Alien Resurrection. He also acted in the TV series Deadwood, where he played Doc Cochran. This role earned him a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award.

Early Life and Education
Bradford Claude Dourif was born in Huntington, West Virginia, on March 18, 1950. His mother, Joan, was an actress, and his father, Jean, was an art collector who owned a dye factory. His grandparents on his father's side came from France.
After his father passed away in 1953, his mother remarried a famous golfer named William C. Campbell. His stepfather helped raise Brad and his five siblings.
From 1963 to 1965, Dourif went to a private school in Aiken, South Carolina. It was there that he became interested in acting and art. He was inspired by watching his mother act in a local theater group. After attending Fountain Valley School in Colorado, he moved to New York City to study acting.
Acting Career
Starting on Stage
Dourif began his acting career in school plays and community theater. In New York City, he studied acting and performed in several plays. A director named Miloš Forman saw him in a play and cast him in the movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. This role launched his film career.
After almost 30 years away from the stage, Dourif returned in 2013. He starred in a play in New York with actress Amanda Plummer. He said he only agreed to do it because he had the chance to work with her.
Famous Movie Roles
His role as Billy Bibbit in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was a huge success. It earned him a Golden Globe Award, a British Academy Award (BAFTA), and an Academy Award nomination.
Dourif is famous for playing intense and interesting characters. He has appeared in many horror films, and his most famous role is the voice of Chucky. He has voiced the character in all the Child's Play movies since 1988 and in the new TV series.

He has also lent his voice to video games. He played Saavedro in Myst III: Exile and Piero Joplin in Dishonored. In 2023, he voiced Chucky again for the game Dead by Daylight.
Personal Life
Dourif has been married twice. He has one daughter, Fiona Dourif, who is also an actress. Fiona has acted alongside her father in the Chucky movies and TV series.
In 2024, Dourif announced he was retiring from most acting. However, he said he would continue to be involved in any projects related to Chucky.
