Bradford Claude Dourif (born March 18, 1950) is an American actor. He is famous for being the voice of Chucky in the scary Child's Play movies and TV show. He also played Gríma Wormtongue in The Lord of the Rings films.
Brad Dourif was nominated for an Oscar for his role as Billy Bibbit in the movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975). He has appeared in many other films like Dune (1984) and Blue Velvet (1986). On TV, he is known for playing Amos "Doc" Cochran in Deadwood.

Early Life and First Steps in Acting
Brad Dourif was born in Huntington, West Virginia, on March 18, 1950. His mother, Joan Mavis Felton, was an actress. His father, Jean Henri Dourif, collected art and owned a factory. Brad's grandparents came from France.
After his father passed away, his mother married champion golfer William C. Campbell. William helped raise Brad and his five brothers and sisters. Brad went to Aiken Preparatory School in South Carolina from 1963 to 1965. There, he enjoyed art and acting.
Brad thought about becoming a flower arranger for a short time. But his mother's acting in a local theater group inspired him to become an actor. After Aiken, he went to Fountain Valley School in Colorado, graduating in 1968. He even won second place in a film festival for a short movie he made. Brad later moved to New York City to study acting.

On Stage
Brad Dourif started acting in school plays. Then he joined community theater groups. In New York City, he learned from famous acting teachers. He performed in many plays in the early 1970s. One of these plays was When You Comin' Back, Red Ryder?. A director named Miloš Forman saw him in this play. This led to Brad being cast in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
After many years away from the stage, Brad returned in 2013. He starred in a play called The Two-Character Play. He explained that he felt he had to do it, even though he hadn't done live theater in a long time.

Brad Dourif's big break came with Cuckoo's Nest in 1975. He won a Golden Globe Award and a British Academy Award for his role. He was also nominated for an Oscar. A film critic once called him "one of the most intense, most interesting young film actors."
Brad is well-known for his roles in horror movies. He is the voice of Chucky in the Child's Play series. He played the Gemini Killer in The Exorcist III (1990). He also appeared in Alien Resurrection (1997). Later, he was Sheriff Lee Brackett in Rob Zombie's Halloween (2007) and Halloween II (2009). Semi-Retirement
In April 2024, Brad Dourif announced he would mostly retire from acting. However, he plans to continue working on any projects related to Chucky. He said this is because of his daughter Fiona, who also acts in the Chucky series. He also considers Chucky creator Don Mancini to be like family.
