Braddock is the oldest town in Emmons County. It was started in the fall of 1898. This happened when the first railroad came through the county. The town was named by Frederick Underwood. He was the President of the Soo Railroad. He named it after Edward Braddock, who was the County Auditor at the time.

At first, people voted against making Braddock an official village in 1914. But later, on October 24, 1916, the vote passed. This made Braddock an official village.
