Bradford Jamieson IV: A Soccer Star's Journey
Early Days and Youth Soccer
Bradford Jamieson was born in Los Angeles, California. He started playing soccer at a young age in local leagues like AYSO. He then moved on to play for club teams such as Santa Monica United FC and LAFC/Cosmos. Later, he joined the Chivas USA Academy. He finished his youth soccer journey at the LA Galaxy Academy.
Because of special rules for USSF Academy players, Bradford did not play for his high school team, Santa Monica High School. He had planned to play college soccer at UC, Berkeley. However, at just 17 years old, he decided to sign a professional contract with the L.A. Galaxy instead. This meant he would play soccer as his job. Bradford was recognized as an "All-America" team player in 2012 and 2013.
Starting His Professional Career
In 2012, Bradford was invited to join the U.S. Soccer U-17 residency program in Florida. This program helps young talented players develop their skills. While there, he also played for the USSF Chivas Academy in Los Angeles. At Chivas, he even got to train with the main professional team.
After two years, he returned to Los Angeles and joined the L.A. Galaxy academy. He continued to train and play with the first team. This led to him playing for the Galaxy's reserve team. Eventually, the head coach, Bruce Arena, offered him a professional contract. Bradford started his pro career while still finishing high school. He had to balance his studies, school events, and being a professional athlete.
Playing for LA Galaxy
On February 20, 2014, Bradford signed a "homegrown player contract" with the LA Galaxy. This type of contract is for players who come up through a team's youth academy. He made his first professional appearance for LA Galaxy II, the reserve team, on March 22, 2014.
Later that year, on July 19, 2014, Bradford played his first game for the main LA Galaxy team. He came into the game as a substitute and quickly made an impact. Less than five minutes after joining the game, he helped set up a goal for his teammate, Robbie Keane. The Galaxy won the MLS Cup that year, and Bradford was part of the team. He was also a finalist for the "Rookie of the Year" award in the USL Pro league.
Bradford scored his first goal for the Galaxy on April 26, 2015. It was an exciting moment in a match against the New York Red Bulls. Unfortunately, injuries limited his playing time in 2015.
Moving to Other Clubs
After leaving LA Galaxy at the end of the 2019 season, Bradford moved to Denmark. He joined a team called Vendsyssel FF on January 31, 2020. He played for them for about seven months before his contract ended in August 2020.
In March 2021, Bradford returned to the United States. He joined Hartford Athletic, a team in the USL Championship league.
Playing for His Country
Bradford started attending U.S. Soccer national team camps when he was in high school. In 2011, he was invited to the U.S. Soccer residency program. He completed all four semesters there, playing for the U.S. U17 team in various tournaments around the world.
After becoming a professional player, Bradford continued to play for the national team. He joined camps to prepare for the 2015 CONCACAF Championship. This tournament was a qualifier for the U20 World Cup. He scored a crucial goal against Trinidad and Tobago, which helped his team advance. Bradford was then chosen to play in the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand, where he scored another goal against the host country.
