A Look at Bradley Junction's Past
Bradley Junction gets its name from a special meeting point for railroads. This "junction" was where two important train lines crossed paths. One line was the Seaboard Air Line Railroad, which went east and west. The other was the Charlotte Harbor and Northern Railway, which went north and south.
The junction was named after Peter B. Bradley. He was a leader in a company that mined phosphate, a mineral used in fertilizers. He started the Charlotte Harbor and Northern Railway in 1905. Today, both train lines are owned by a company called CSX Transportation.
In the mid-1990s, a railroad museum moved the old train station from Bradley Junction. It was taken to Parrish. Sadly, the station building was later destroyed by a fire.
