Braidon Burns was born in Dubbo, New South Wales, Australia. He has Indigenous Australian heritage. His uncle, Rod Silva, was also a famous rugby league player. Rod won a championship with the Canterbury team.
Braidon started playing rugby league when he was young. He played for the Coonamble Bears junior team. Later, the Penrith Panthers team signed him. This was a big step in his career.
Braidon's Rugby League Journey
Starting His Career
In 2015 and 2016, Braidon played for the Penrith Panthers' youth team. This team was called the NYC. In August 2016, he signed a two-year contract. This contract was with the South Sydney Rabbitohs team. He joined them in 2017.
Playing for South Sydney
2017 Season
Braidon made his first NRL game in 2017. It was in Round 2 for South Sydney. They played against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles. In Round 6, he played against Penrith. Souths won that game 21–20. After that, he was out of the team for eight weeks. He returned in Round 15 against the Gold Coast.
2018 Season
Braidon's first game in 2018 was in Round 4. It was a Good Friday match against Canterbury. He played five games for Souths in 2018. Most of the season, he played for the North Sydney Bears in a lower league. He did not play in Souths' final games.
2019 Season
Braidon played nine games for South Sydney in 2019. The team finished third in the regular season. However, Braidon did not play in their final games that year.
2020 Season
In Round 8 of the 2020 season, Braidon got hurt. He left the field during South Sydney's win over Canterbury-Bankstown. It was a dislocated knee injury. This injury meant he could not play for the rest of the season.
2021 Season
Braidon returned to play in Round 9 of the 2021 season. South Sydney lost that game 50–0 to Melbourne. In Round 22, Braidon scored two tries. This helped South Sydney win 36–6 against the Gold Coast. On October 5, Braidon signed a new contract. He joined Canterbury for the 2022 season.
Playing for Canterbury Bulldogs
2022 Season
Braidon played his first game for Canterbury in Round 1 of 2022. They won 6–4 against North Queensland. This game was at the Queensland Country Bank Stadium. In Round 6, Braidon got a hamstring injury. He was out for about a month. He played 14 games for Canterbury that year. He scored four tries. Canterbury finished 12th and did not make the finals.
2023 Season
After Canterbury's win in Round 9 of 2023, Braidon got injured again. He had a medial ligament injury. This meant he would be out for at least six weeks. Braidon played eight games for Canterbury in 2023. The team finished 15th on the table.
Playing for North Queensland Cowboys
2024 Season
On May 3, 2024, Braidon joined the North Queensland Cowboys. He joined them for the rest of the season. In Round 11, he played his first game for North Queensland. He scored two tries in their 28–22 win. This win was against his old team, South Sydney.
