Brandon McBride was born on June 15, 1994. He is a Canadian track and field athlete. He is best known for running middle-distance races, especially the 800 metres. Brandon won a gold medal at the 2018 NACAC Championships.
He has represented Canada at the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Brandon holds the Canadian record for the 800-meter race. He has also won four national titles in Canada.
Brandon McBride's Journey
Brandon McBride went to W. F. Herman Secondary School in Windsor, Ontario. He later attended Mississippi State University. There, he became a two-time champion in the NCAA Division I 800-meter race. He was also named an "All-American" nine times for track and field. This means he was recognized as one of the best college athletes in the United States.
In July 2016, Brandon was chosen to be part of Canada's Olympic team. He competed in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He made it to the semi-finals of the 800-meter race.
At the 2017 World Championships in Athletics in London, he finished eighth in his main event. This showed he was one of the top runners in the world.
A big moment for Brandon came in July 2018. He broke the Canadian national record for the 800-meter race. He did this at the Monaco Diamond League event. His amazing time was 1 minute, 43.20 seconds.
