Brandon Stone's Golf Journey
Starting as an Amateur Golfer
Brandon Stone showed great talent in golf from a young age. He won many amateur tournaments in South Africa. In 2012, he was part of the South African team for the Eisenhower Trophy, a big international golf competition for amateurs.
He then went to college at the University of Texas for one year. During that time, he won three college golf events. After his successful year in college, Brandon decided to become a professional golfer in 2013.
Turning Professional and Early Wins
In 2015, Brandon started playing on the Sunshine Tour and the Challenge Tour. He performed very well on the Challenge Tour, finishing 14th in the rankings. This good performance helped him move up to the European Tour, which is one of the biggest golf tours in the world.
Later in 2015, Brandon achieved his first professional victory. He won the Lion of Africa Cape Town Open on the Sunshine Tour.
Big Wins on the European Tour
In January 2016, Brandon made a big splash in his second event as a full member of the European Tour. He won the South African Open by two strokes. This tournament was special because it was part of both the European Tour and the Sunshine Tour.
Another major highlight came in July 2018. Brandon won the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open. He had an amazing final round, shooting a score of 60. This score tied the record for the lowest round ever on the European Tour. He almost shot a 59, which would have been even more incredible!
In April 2021, Brandon added another win to his record. He won the Limpopo Championship after a thrilling four-man playoff. He secured the win by making a birdie on the very first extra hole.
