The Bras d'Apic is a river in Quebec, Canada. Its name means "Apic Arm" in English. This river flows through the towns of Saint-Marcel and Saint-Cyrille-de-Lessard. It is located in the Chaudière-Appalaches region.

The Bras d'Apic is a smaller river that flows into the Bras Saint-Nicolas. The Bras Saint-Nicolas then joins the rivière du Sud (Montmagny). Finally, the Rivière du Sud flows into the mighty St. Lawrence River.

Where Does the Bras d'Apic Flow?

The Bras d'Apic starts at a place called Lake Apic. This lake is about 1.0 kilometer long. It sits high up in the mountains, at an altitude of 406 meters. Lake Apic is in the area of Saint-Marcel.

From Lake Apic, the Bras d'Apic river travels for about 26.4 kilometers. It winds its way through different areas before joining a larger river.

The River's Journey

The river's path can be broken down into several parts:

  • For the first 2.7 kilometers, it flows northwest through Saint-Marcel.
  • Then, for 9.6 kilometers, it heads north, often alongside Route 285. It even passes through a small village called Bras-d'Apic.
  • Next, it flows north for 0.4 kilometers, where another small stream joins it from the southeast.
  • It continues northwest for 5.8 kilometers in Saint-Cyrille-de-Lessard, still near Route 285.
  • After that, it goes northwest for 4.6 kilometers, crossing a road called Chemin Lessard Ouest.
  • Finally, for the last 3.3 kilometers, it flows west. Along this part, it goes over the "Taupin Falls" before reaching its end.

Where the River Ends

The Bras d'Apic finishes its journey by flowing into the Bras Saint-Nicolas. This happens on the south bank of the Bras Saint-Nicolas. The meeting point of these two rivers is about 3.4 kilometers west of the village of Saint-Cyrille-de-Lessard.

What's in the Area Around the River?

The land around the Bras d'Apic is called its watershed. This is the area where all the rain and snow eventually drain into the river. Other rivers and streams are nearby.
